Terms of service
These terms govern your use of bugrepellentclothing.com and any purchase you make from Bug Repellent Clothing ("we", "us"). By placing an order you agree to them.
1. About our products and what we do and do not claim
Our garments are printed with a high-contrast striped pattern. This design is inspired by published research on how bold stripes affect the vision and landing behaviour of certain biting flies β notably work by Caro and colleagues on zebras and horseflies, and by HorvΓ‘th and colleagues on striped body paint.
Please read this carefully:
- Our clothing is not an insecticide, a repellent, or a medical or protective device, and it is not registered as a pest control product.
- We do not claim that it prevents bites, prevents insect-borne disease, or replaces medical advice.
- The published evidence concerns biting flies. Evidence for mosquitoes and ticks is considerably weaker.
- If you are travelling somewhere with insect-borne disease risk, follow the advice of a medical professional and your public health authority.
What we do claim is straightforward: the garment contains no DEET, no permethrin, and no chemical treatment of any kind.
2. Orders
Placing an order is an offer to buy. We may decline or cancel an order β for example if an item is mispriced, unavailable, or we suspect fraud β and if we do, we refund you in full. Every item is made to order; see our Refund Policy for cancellation timing.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are in Canadian dollars and may change without notice, though changes never affect an order already placed. Applicable taxes are shown at checkout. Payment is taken at the time of order.
4. Product images and colour
Product images are digital mockups and photographs. Colour reproduction varies between screens, and minor variation between individual garments is inherent to all-over printing. See our Refund Policy.
5. Intellectual property
The BRC name, shield logo, zebra-stripe artwork, site design and copy are our property. You may not reproduce, print, or resell them without written permission.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use this site unlawfully, attempt to breach its security, scrape it at a volume that degrades service, or submit false information at checkout.
7. Accounts
If you create an account you are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use.
8. Third-party services
We use Shopify for our store and checkout, Printful for production and fulfilment, and payment providers who handle card details directly. We never see or store your full card number. Their terms and privacy practices apply to their part of the process.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss β including, for the avoidance of doubt, any loss, illness, or injury arising from insect bites.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights under Canadian consumer protection legislation.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. If you sign up for marketing email you may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any message, consistent with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
12. Changes
We may update these terms; the version published here at the time you order is the one that applies to your order.
